The game takes place in Punchbowl, Pennsylvania on a summer day in 1959. He's a lone undead man in a city that looks like something off a pulp sci-fi magazine cover. Stubbs wakes up to discover everything's changed. We wanted an action game that allowed the player to create chaotic and amusing situations - the living dead are great for that.

We developed other ideas after that, but we ended up coming back to Stubbs because we could all imagine making it work. Jonric: How did the Wideload Games' team arrive at the unusual concept for Stubbs the Zombie in "Rebel Without a Pulse"? And what's it about? Matt Soell: The idea arose in the shower, when I thought "Wouldn't it be nice if there was a game where you played a zombie gradually destroying some beautiful place and converting the citizens into zombies?" Wideload Games' Stubbs the Zombie in "Rebel without a Pulse" is projected as an autumn release on the PC, Xbox and Mac platforms. That may be the reason why, some 26 years earlier during the Great Depression, an unknown murderer saw fit to utilize it as the burial site for the body of his victim, Edward "Stubbs" Stubblefield, an utterly unremarkable traveling salesman whose career and life came to a sudden, brutal end without his even having the opportunity to see who had done the deed or to know why. Supposedly created to serve as a showcase for modern technology and bearing the motto "Drink your fill of the Future", it stands on what was once an unexceptional field out in a remote area of the countryside. In Pennsylvania, the opening day celebration has gotten under way for the city of Punchbowl, newly built by wealthy playboy and industrialist Andrew Monday as a monument to his affluence and ego.
